Westrade Construction was tasked by Mindfulness at Centrepointe to construct and execute the third-party design of a peaceful place for the mind, body, and soul. The challenge was transforming and demoing an existing kickboxing gym into a welcoming space that best captured the caring, knowledgeable and understanding energy of Mindfulness at Centrepoint.

 

Westrade Construction levelled the floor and installed new carpet tile in the private office area. Designer chosen paint and wallpaper were added to freshen up the space. In addition, a new suspended ceiling grid was completed for the room. The new ceiling included all the mechanical and electrical systems with both tile and pot lights installed throughout the centre. Custom drapery was used on the ceiling in the storage and reception areas to give the space a sense of elegance and a textured accent was also added to create a calming flow.

 

The project brought unique challenges from both a design and execution standpoint. A major component of the project included the installation of custom divider panels, which were specially cut by a wood CNC router machine. CNC wood routers use 3D motion control to fabricate beautiful wood fixtures and features and make the perfect tool to create custom pieces. These custom dividers are inspired by a modern lotus flower design that is found in Mindfulness at Centrepointe’s logo as well as traditional yoga practice. These dividers are a bold and elegant choice used to foster a sense of soul and spiritual awakening in the space. 

 

Westrade Construction also upgraded the existing full-grade doors into full-cutout doors in the lobby with bold designs completed with custom window film and lettering. A custom sign for the centre was also made and installed outside of Mindfulness at Centrepointe’s front door to ensure all those who visit can find the space. However, the real challenge was the installation of the luxury vinyl tile flooring that featured a custom laser-cut to create a perfect circle in the middle of the space. The result was a standout floor perfect for gathering in a grounding and peaceful setting.
